Due to the popularity of Emmet Fox’s work, I have a number of episodes planned for the future that center around his teachings.
The popularity of an episode I produced last year, The Golden Key and How to Use It is evidence that you all find his prescriptions for metaphysical healing as helpful I do.
In today’s episode, I’m talking about The 7 Day Mental Diet: How to Change Your Life in a Week. This is another very clear and concise work by Mr Fox.
As he says in the introduction, it’s ultimately a prescription for “psychological and spiritual rejuvenation”.
As for why you’d want to go on The 7 Day Mental Diet, well, the answer is summed up in the follow passage from the book:
Everything in your life today, the state of your body, whether healthy or sick, the state of your fortune, whether prosperous or impoverished, the state of your home, whether happy or the reverse, the present condition of every phase of your life in fact is entirely conditioned by the thoughts and feelings which you have entertained in the past.”
To go on the diet, just make up your mind that for 7 days, you will work to form a new thought habit.
One that doesn’t allow any identifications or impressions of negativity onto your consciousness.
While you may notice thoughts like these during this week, you’re job is to not identify with them.
Yes, you may be presented with situations throughout the week that are inherently negative in nature.
However, your response to such situations is up to you.
While you’re on the diet, you will make a very conscious effort not to allow any thoughts or feelings of negativity or judgement into your mind.
That’s the diet in a nutshell.
Fox also recommends that you not tell anyone you’re on the mental diet.
This is a common suggestion from many metaphysicians when you’re working to transform your consciousness.
This is due to the fact that doing so can dissipate any spiritual power you’re building toward change.
