Do you want to instill a can-do entrepreneurial mindset in your child? Or maybe in yourself? Well if so, Kid Capitalist: What Every Kid Should Know About Owning A Business will help you do that. In this episode, I’m going to review this great book and share my top 5 takeaways with you. Let’s face it. The world is always in a state of change. Rather than relying on employers or the government for security, more and more evidence suggests that we must become self-reliant, and build our own security if we want to realize true and lasting prosperity. That’s why it’s important to help young and old alike understand that they have it within themselves to strike out on their own and forge their own way. To be their own boss if they want to be. This book helps kids understand what being an entrepreneur is all about from someone who is one.
Show Notes
My top 5 takeaways from this book are:
- The option exists for your child to become an entrepreneur, but it has to occur to them first.
- It all starts with an idea to serve others and solve problems better than anyone else.
- Human potential is virtually unlimited, and all of us are capable of being or doing anything we put our minds to.
- Tobe demystifies entrepreneurialism, and takes you behind the scenes of business ownership.
- You’ll learn that good business is built on the principle of trading value for value.
*Bonus takeaway* Tobe recommends designing and building a business around your lifestyle. One that actually supports the life you want to live. A business that is in alignment with who you are, and what you want your life to look like. He says that all too often, people chose their careers or businesses based on how much money they’ll make. This is the wrong approach. Because you’ll be unhappy in the long run due to your lack of passion for what you’re doing. You could even burn yourself out. So know yourself first and foremost. Then choose a business that supports the lifestyle you want to have.
One Sentence Summary:
Being an entrepreneur is an option that’s available to your child, if they want to put the work in to have the freedom this type of lifestyle affords.
Quote of the Week:
The key to becoming a great entrepreneur is to recognize it for what it is and be willing to say, “I’m creative. I’m a creative person, I think outside the box, and I can come up with different solutions to problems that most people wouldn’t think about. ~ Tobe Brockner
And here’s a bonus quote…
When I began looking for opportunities to serve – to do some good within our society and make an impact – then I was happier and the money naturally took care of itself. ~ Tobe Brockner
