With fall approaching and children going back to school, I’m reminded of my own days in school.
Like a lot of students, certain subjects came easier than others.
Math and science weren’t my strong suits.
I remember practicing a lot of problems and still not really understanding what I was doing or getting as high of grades as I wanted to.
When I think back, I only remember practicing “doing” the problems and working to understand the theory behind what I was doing.
I don’t remember ever practicing “being”, or putting effort into developing the self-concept that would support success in those areas and others.
As a big proponent of using our imagination to develop a successful state of being, in addition to practicing doing the things we want to improve at, let’s talk about the importance of practicing being the thing as well.
Quote of the Week:
You’ll improve faster in whatever you’re doing if, in addition to practicing doing it, you also practice being it.”
