On this week’s episode of the podcast, my niece, Carmen Phillips, joins me to share her recent experience in Cambodia doing Humanitarian work through Youthlinc and Utah State University.
It was so great having Carmen on the show.
After hearing about her experience in Cambodia, I thought a lot about what Tracy L’Herisson shared with us in episode 037 of the podcast.
If you recall, Tracy and other Transcendental Meditation practitioners traveled to Cambodia during the rein of the Khmer Rouge to participate in group meditation there. Their goal was to help alleviate some of the suffering in the region by bringing a level of coherence to the collective field of consciousness during that horrific time period.
Before the interview, Carmen and I talked about what direction we wanted to go with the show.
As you can imagine, she had a lot of emotionally charged experiences while she was there, like visiting The Killing Fields Museum.
Rather than focus on these experiences, we chose to focus on the positive things that groups like Youthlinc and other humanitarian organizations are doing in the area to help the Cambodian people.
In addition to giving us a glimpse into the work they did there, Carmen talked about the joy she experienced from connecting with the Cambodian people and helping them improve their village and their lives.
I came away from this interview with a new perspective on the region and feeling very fortunate to live in The United States where we have opportunities and luxuries that aren’t available in other parts of the world.
I was filled with lot’s of gratitude and appreciation, that I’m sure will stick around for quite some time.
Thank you Carmen for sharing your experience with us!
